An Eventful Two Weeks

It seems like a lot has happened since my last post.

We had our last snowstorm of the season (in May), in which I totaled my car on the way to work. I am so thankful that Baby and I are okay, but now we are in the process of trying to find a new vehicle for our family. Fast forward about 10 days and we broke the state record today with a high temperature of 98 degrees. :)

Kieran was scheduled to have "surgery" last week on his tear duct to open it up, but they had a scheduling conflict in the OR, so he is scheduled for this Thursday at 6:00 a.m. We have also been looking for day care for him for the summer, and we had already confirmed a spot in a nice Christian day care in our area; however, we only need about three days a week, and we would have to pay for the whole week. Thankfully, some dear friends of ours in our church family have volunteered to open up their home and be another family for our son. We are so blessed.

We have been struggling with the decision of whether or not this little one inside me should be delivered naturally or via surgery as Kieran was. We are still not at the point where we have made a decision, but in the meantime, Baby has a new due date! We were originally given a due date of Friday, October 25th. My midwife wanted me to have a dating ultrasound, however, since my cycles are never regular, and we are now expecting Baby on or around Tuesday, November 5th. Now we have to wait five more weeks to really get a good peek at little brother or sister!

Curious little man loves to hear his own echo!
What a goober. :)

I'll be interested to hear about your vaginal versus cesarean choice. The twins were born via c-section but I'd be interested in a vaginal delivery if we have more though I've heard a lot of doctors don't do it for liability reasons. Though I see you are using a midwife - I'd love to hear more!

Reanna, I'll let you know! I also have a very good informational site my midwife gave me that I can send you. The problem is that right now, I have placenta previa, so I wouldn't even be considered. If and when that resolves, then we could consider it again.

Wow! Busy life!

I'm so glad you got a dating ultrasound and will keep that little one in a bit longer! Most docs want to schedule repeat c-sections at 39 weeks so you would have been really early! When I finally got the chance to go into labor on my own (first was induced, second was scheduled, third labor spontaneously started) it didn't start until 42 weeks. I worry about babies when they are taken what could be up to three or four weeks early! :(

If your placenta previa resolves a vbac is actually safer than a repeat surgery (if you find the correct info and statistics on infections/complications of surgery) and I tried for that with my last two births (Oliver ended up being a scheduled c-section around 42.5 weeks and with Ellie I went into labor at 42 weeks and labored ten hours or so before deciding on a c-section).

I hope you get a chance to have a vaginal birth! I'll be praying that God grants you wisdom as you naviagate this - I know how tough of a decision it is!

Thanks, Sarah! I do know that it is safer, but obviously we are waiting on that resolution. Also, our hospital does not perform VBACs, so we would have to go down to DM and find someone that thinks I am a good candidate. I am really pulling for that option, but I am also trying not to get my hopes up, in case the circumstances don't work out. :)
